Frequently Asked Questions

Should I book my own flight?

Yes, as they are not included in the tour price. Please note tour beginning location and ending location as most tours begin and end in different locations. Your flight should arrive in the tour’s originating city, allowing for time to arrive at the hotel, check-in and attend to any other needs you may have before the Welcome/Orientation session on the first day. The Atlantic Coastal War tour will also require you to book a flight from Charleston, SC to Bermuda. Your return trip home will be out of Bermuda.

How strenuous are the tours?

Tours of battlefields generally follow designated park pathways. There are no steep grades or excessive lengths. In the evening, a short walk may be required going to our restaurant for dinner and returning to our hotel. Many of the battlefield tours involve stops where we disembark from the bus; sometimes we walk a portion of the battlefield and other stops we do not.

What kind of hotels do the tours use?

Whether in large cities or more rural locations, we endeavor to provide accommodations at 3- and 4-star lodging facilities. In some locations, stays in historic hotels enriches the experience of the historic vacation.

What room accommodations are available?

Rooms are booked based upon double-occupancy for couples that register for tours. Single registrants are paired together at random, unless requested, for double-occupancy tour rates. Those registrants that desire single-occupancy must also pay the single-occupancy additional tariff. Room accommodations include king-sized-beds, double or queen beds, either one or two beds per room. In some locations, queen-size or king-size beds are not available.

Are there payment options?

A 10% deposit is required initially, to be counted towards the tour total. The deposit is credited towards the total cost of the tour. Fifty percent (50%) of the total tour cost is due ninety (90) days before tour date; the remaining forty percent (40%) of the balance is due forty-five (45) days before tour date. At any time, the balance of the tour cost can be paid.

What is your refund policy?

Cancellations received in writing by HAT up ninety (90) days before tour date will be fully refunded. All cancellations received in writing by HAT between ninety (90) and sixty (60) days before tour date the deposit will be forfeited; For cancellations received in writing by HAT between sixty (60) and thirty (30) days before tour date, fifty percent (50%) of the tour cost will be forfeited. Cancellations received less than thirty (30) days prior to tour date will result in no refund.

How large are the tour groups?

We try to limit our tour groups to 30. Although every tour has a minimum number, they generally average from 12 to 30.

What type of ground transportation is used between cities?

The type of ground transportation is predicated on group size. For larger groups, we use a luxury motor coach for our tours, while for smaller groups we use a minibus.

Will I need a passport and visa for Bermuda on the Atlantic Coastal War tour?

Yes, you will need a passport. To obtain a passport contact http://travel.state.gov/. You do not need a visa for entry into Bermuda.
